Welcome to Career and Technical Education

Career and Technical Education (CTE) provides relevant hands-on experiences, real-world skills, and a head start on your future career. Our classes are designed to turn your passions into real careers.

The aim of Career and Technical Education (CTE) is to provide guidance and learning opportunities that help students plan their future. The focus of instruction is to create an understanding of the relationship between core academics and specific technical skill development.

Through CTE courses students are introduced to various career opportunities and have opportunities to practice workplace skills through internships and work experiences. Professional certifications and articulated college credit can be earned.

In addition to CTE courses, there are four Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) at Urbana High School:

  • Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA)
  • Science Olympiad
  • Jr MANNRS
  • FFA

CTSOs provide students with opportunities to extend their learning beyond the classroom, develop real-world skills, explore career interests, and connect with peers and professionals.
