The first ten days of school have brought an exciting start to the 2026–2027 school year! We have welcomed many new students and families to Urbana Schools and celebrated being back together through Welcome Back events and Open Houses across the District.

Our second annual Back to School Celebration was also a huge success! We served meals to approximately 500 people, gave away 300 sling bags filled with school supplies, and welcomed more than 25 community partners and service organizations who provided resources and information to our families. We also had the opportunity to introduce and celebrate our Fall Sports Teams. It was a wonderful evening of family fun, community support, and Urbana pride!

If you have a kindergarten, sixth, or ninth-grade student who still needs required physicals or immunizations, appointments remain available at the School-Based Health Center at Urbana High School. Please call 217-356-1558, Ext. 321 for more information or to schedule an appointment.

Carle's Mobile Health Clinic is also sponsoring another Walk-In Clinic this weekend at the Martens Center in Champaign, and Urbana families are welcome to attend! Please see the linked flyer for additional information.

As we celebrate a great start, we also want to make sure our students establish strong attendance habits from the very beginning.

Absences add up! Missing just two days of school each month adds up to approximately 10% of the entire school year.

Every day of instruction matters. Every day of connection with teachers and classmates matters. And every day in school is another opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed.

Come out and help us kick off a new football season as our Urbana Tigers take the field for their first home game of the year TONIGHT at 7:00 p.m. at McKinley Football Field!

Join us as we cheer on our Tigers and enjoy our Tiger Marching Band, Color Guard, and Cheer in action. Let's fill the stands, show our Urbana pride, and start the season with a great home crowd!

All USD116 families are invited to join us for the first Neighborhood Night of the school year!

Bring the whole family out for an evening of connection, fun, music and community. Families can explore school programs, take part in hands-on learning activities, and enjoy games/activities. Refreshments will be provided.

The School Health Center next to Urbana High School is offering Dental Days for Urbana students during the following dates and times:

As a reminder, students currently in kindergarten, 2nd, 6th and 9th grades need to have a dental exam by May 15, 2027. Please take advantage of these opportunities and schedule an appointment soon. Dental appointments tend to fill up quickly.

We welcome you to volunteer in our schools!

If you would like to volunteer in your student's building, please contact your school's Mentor and Community Involvement Coordinator to get signed up.

If you have one hour a week to spend with a student, consider signing up for the CU One-to-One Mentoring Program.

Mentors commit to meeting with their mentees one hour a week during the school day for one school year.
