SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES: The Scholarship Bulletin is a comprehensive document of scholarships available to UHS students. Specific criteria, applications, and deadlines can be found underneath each scholarship. Seniors should check this document often, as it is updated regularly.
SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL WELL-BEING: Counselors are available to meet with students regarding their social-emotional well-being. We may also refer them to one of our Clinical Professionals. We help mediate conflict between students, students and their teachers, and issues that may arise within the community.
STANDARDIZED TESTING: Standardized testing is required at the following grade levels:
- Freshman: PSAT 8/9, Illinois Science Assessment
- Sophomores: PSAT 10
- Juniors: PSAT/NMSQT (optional), SAT (graduation requirement)
More information regarding these assessments can be found at www.collegeboard.org.
FAFSA: The FAFSA is used to apply for federal grants, work-study, and loans. Your college will use your FAFSA data to determine your federal aid eligibility. FAFSA completion is a graduation requirement, so it is in seniors’ best interest to complete this process as soon as possible. If you are not planning on attending college in the fall, you must complete the FAFSA non-participation form and return it to your counselor.
If students have questions about financial aid, they may contact Cristian Solorzano, Urbana High School’s ISAC Representative. She can be reached at Cristian.solorzano@illinois.
